You can’t just start a blog and expect it to magically become popular. You need to make sure that you are putting work into it, in many aspects. You need to make sure that you have great content that people want to read, and that you are working to promote it.
The following tips are great ways to update your blog and make it more interesting to people, but you also want to make sure that you are updating regularly. Plus, making sure that your blog posts are edited is easy and important!
Add Some Photos
Your blog post should be about more than just content. While you want it to be your content that brings people in, you also want to make sure that you are giving them something to look at. Including photos not only gives people an image to understand your story with, but it can also attract viewers.
It’s great if you can supply your own photos, which can be fun and shows that you are multi-talented. But, if photos aren’t your skill there are plenty of places to find photos online, for free or for a cost.
Link To Other Great Content
Linking to content that you have read and has inspired you can do a lot of great things, for your blog and the ones that you are linking to. Make sure that you are linking to credible sources that speak well to what your blog is trying to put across.
Linking can increase your popularity in search engines and it may even work to earn you some reciprocal links, just don’t do it solely because that is what you are hoping for. Credible links just help your blog look more put together and valuable.
Add Something Personal
People want to know that what they are reading was written by a real person. One way you can do that is by getting a little more personal on your blog. That doesn’t mean you need to tell personal stories though.
If you don’t already have one, set up an about me where you can let people know about you, why you started your blog, and what makes you an expert on your chosen topics. You can also add a photo so that people can put a face to the blogger.
Be Responsive
You’ll find that you get more repeat readers when you put more into your posts. You should also make sure you are being responsive to your readers by commenting back to them when they comment on your posts.
Not all comments are going to be positive ones, but you want to make sure that you stay positive and don’t sink to the level of an angry reader. You have the right to delete and block comments from certain people, but you want to make sure that you remain professional if you want your blog to stay interesting and well read.
